Secrets? Detective work? Pillow talk? Discussions of controversial subjects?
These are some of the happenings that may become commonplace fodder over the next two-plus months.
The reason? Not only is messenger Mercury entering sultry Scorpio on September 29 but it will be there for an extended period of time—through December 4—given that the planet of communication will go retrograde in this discovering-what’s-under-the-surface sign.
Even if digging for hidden information, being strategic about which facts you share and when, having passionate conversations, and/or playing detective isn’t your go-to style, you’ll get a lot of practice in these realms during this time. With Mercury in Scorpio you can’t but avoid it. And even if these communication arenas aren’t your cup of tea (and even make you a bit uncomfortable), remember some advice that lies at the heart of the Scorpio playbook—what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Desire-filled dialogues and rife-with-emotion conversations may feel really intense but this time-extended practicum in using speech to suss out the full range of experiences is certain to help us all grow in our mental and emotional capacity.
The dates for this Mercury retrograde cycle are October 21–November 10 (with the shadow period, which you can think of as Mercury retrograde lite, beginning on October 1 and ending on November 27). A lot of people get worried about Mercury retrograde, wishing they could just hide out under the covers during it, biding their time until it’s over. Yet, Mercury retrograde doesn’t have to be a dreaded time and may end up being a period that is rewarding and productive, notably if you utilize the “Re” strategy of the retrograde. What’s that? Put a “Re” in front of regular Mercury activities—so, Re-edit, Re-write, Re-evaluate, Re-imagine, Re-consider, Re-vamp, Re-discuss, et al.—to align with the opportunity of enjoying a new perspective that this time can yield.
One more thing to consider: Mercury will connect with the point of the November 3 transformational Solar Eclipse three times in the coming months. Around these dates, you may be able to get a greater level of insight and understanding as to what new chapter may be being ushered into your life, as reflected by the Eclipse. These dates include October 8, October 31, and November 21. Additionally, on November 1, Mercury and the Sun will connect in a conjunction, marking this as a day where thinking may be particularly intensified and the desire to radiate information more provocative.
